The ground used for our trials caries but can be typical of a Grouse Moors, woods and farmlands.
The ground is rugged and at times walking may be difficult. There is thus an element of risk with
slipping, tripping or fatigue. It is recommended suitable clothing and footwear are worn, eg walking
boots and appropriate clothing according to the shooting fields practice and custom, also a reasonable
level of fitness is required (see Schedule). The Grampian Gundog Club cannot accept responsibility
for injury, loss or damage to person or property however occasioned (see Schedule).
5. Gun Safety
Depending on the trial there may be four to eight guns participating. The people carrying guns are
very experienced in gun safety. When not in use the guns are carried broken and empty of
cartridges, with barrels pointing to the ground. The rest of the competitors and spectators are kept
out of the way behind or to the flanks of the line as directed by the Chief Steward. During lunch the
guns are kept unloaded, in slips, together with the cartridges in locked vehicles.
